Project Summary:
Step Up project aims to increase the income of the target groups (unemployed youth, returnee migrants and those who have lost jobs due to COVID-19, with a special focus on women) through productive and sustained employment, contributing to poverty reduction and resilient livelihoods. The project strives to contribute to the economic development of the target groups and areas by improving the employment ecosystem, specifically employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and services. The project will provide access to 4,590 unemployed youth in the labour market information and insertion services, of which 1,230 youths will be engaged in productive and sustainable employment or entrepreneurship form both public and private sector.
Step Up intends to achieve the desired goals through three interlinked intervention areas:
IA1: Institutionalising and strengthening the labour market insertion services.
IA 2: Promoting demand-based vocational and entrepreneurship training.
IA 3: Introducing improved entrepreneurship and business development support services.

- Support to set up and operationalization of Management Information System for Biratnagar, Itahari and Duhabi municipalities
- Support ESCs to deliver improved labour market insertion services
- Support (Employment Service Centers) ESCs to deliver improved labor market insertion services.
- Facilitation to link Private Employment Support Service Centers with public Employment Service centers to deliver improved labor market insertion services
