Employment Officer

The Aasaman Nepal is seeking self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position:

Position: Employment Officer – One

Duty station: Based in Dhanusha with frequent field visit

Job Summary: The employment officer will be responsible for providing the leadership in the respective thematic area. The position reports to the project manager, partner organization. The major duty includes; lead and support in designing the project activities, budgeting, and implementation, monitoring and reporting as a technical unit. Facilitate the local government and cooperatives for strengthening economic empowerment related activities. Support in market assessment for potential trade analysis and training. The employment officer will also be responsible to play an effective role to bring synergy between the like-minded stakeholders to achieve the desired results.

Key Responsibility:

  • Ensuring that the adequate understanding of the thematic plan (Labour market analysis, potential youth identification and facilitate micro-enterprise business promotion) and approaches by staff and stakeholders and provide necessary technical guidance to them for smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Quality delivery of the project activities including training, workshop, and support to the targeted community and individual in timely manner for establishing and functionalization of local systems and sustainably.
  • Support and facilitation for planning and implementation of project activities properly ensuring the monitoring.
  • Support and facilities for proper management of financial transactions referring to the compliances.
  • Ensure the quality deliberation of project intervention contributing to gender transformative and systemic change in the thematic area of education, child protection, lead & decide with the formulation of adequate policies and plans and its implementation.
  • Support to MERL and communication team in documentation, generation of appropriate knowledge product as per the project plan and reporting to the partner organization according to the agreed standards and timely manner.
  • Work closely with the local government, cooperatives and ensure that the coordination with them for smooth implementation of project interventions.
  • Support and facilitate the project team for collecting the project progress, challenges and opportunities and report to the partner organization regularly.

Competencies and personal specification:

  • Strong conceptual, interpersonal communication, negotiation, facilitation and representation skills with working experiences in thematic areas of education, child protection, lead and decide, child rights, women rights and preventing child early and forced marriage.
  • Proven knowledge, skills and experiences on micro-enterprise related project for entrepreneurship development, building relationships and working in partnership with local government, civil society organizations and maintaining the congenial working relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills in team-building with an ability to coach and mentor the field team.
  • Good commanding in English and Nepali both written and spoken with MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Proven experiences in working with diverse community, cultures and ability to cope stress and decision making with appropriate communication.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in management or any other discipline with three years of work experience in creation of micro-enterprise and employment opportunities. Well familiar about local context of Dhanusha district. Willing to work in child rights, women rights and preventing child early and forced marriage. The candidate must have a valid motorbike/scooter license and be willing to travel in the community frequently.

Languages:   Strong command of Nepali, English (oral and written) and local language preferred.

Age Limit: Candidates between 21 years to 45 years are only eligible to apply for the above position, depending upon the nature of job they will carry.

Monitor staff and partners’ and ensure adherence to Aasaman Nepal’s policies and internal procedures, protocols, Aasaman Nepal’s code of Conduct with special attention to Safeguarding Standards and Procedure, Case Handling Framework, Child Protection and Do No Harm Policies. Also, immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.
