Agriculture and NRM officer

ASN is implementing the “Advocacy and strengthening resilience through LANN+ – Linking agriculture and natural resource management towards nutrition security” project supported by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) in Salyan District. The main object of the project is to reduce malnutrition in six municipalities used by empowered CBOs and citizens for effective advocacy work at local, provincial and federal level.

The Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position:

  1. Position: Agriculture and NRM officer – One 

Job Description 

Administer Health and Nutrition, Agriculture, WASH, Natural Resource Management and Governance related activities at project areas.

Major Duties:

  • Support in planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the project activities.
  • Support for targeting project beneficiaries, Group formation and sensitization
  • Guide and supervise subordinate staffs as well as community i.e. Social Mobilizers, Lead farmers, CBOs, FCHVs, farmers.
  • Serve as resource person for conducting and managing the specific training packages in relating to integrated farming
  • Demonstrate good agricultural practices at field and guide farmers on adopting the demonstrated technologies.
  • Demonstrate climate smart technologies, local level nutritious crop/plants plot in field.
  • Support for leasehold/riverbed farming implementation for pro-poor households.
  • Support in designing and implementation of small space cultivation practices.
  • Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities as per Detailed Implementation Plan at the field level.
  • Conduct trainings as per the requirement of project and facilitate in organizing field visits and monitoring visits by local government, international visitors and stakeholders.
  • Support project coordinator in planning and conducting meetings, workshops and trainings.

Coordination and communications:

  • Maintain good working relation at working municipality and work closely with them to demonstrate a nutrition sensitive integrated farming approaches and advocate in incorporation of best practices into local government work plan/policy
  • Communicate regularly with PC and other officers for the integrated implementation of field level activities as well as financial settlement.

Monitoring and reporting:

  • Monitor the work of Social mobilizer, Lead farmers, moderate and simple farmers, CBOs, FCHVs and guide them in conducting project activities.
  • Collect field data; compile and analyze as per the requirement.
  • Contribute to develop the monitoring tools and checklists.
  • Support PC in writing monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Collect and support PC in writing result-based case stories.

Advocacy and knowledge management

  • Support for documenting the evidence and lesson learnt project.
  • Demonstrate the evidence for the advocacy at local level
  • Write the case studies and success stories of the project

Other Specific Responsibilities: –

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) on agriculture, with 3 years of working experience in relevant field.
  • Demonstrable experience on entrepreneurship development preferably off-farm.Experience of working with community as well as with local government.Self-motivated and have a good learning attitude.

Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.

Age Limit: Candidates between 21 years to 45 years are only eligible to apply for the above position, depending upon the nature of job they will carry.

Also, immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.
