ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion, and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 25 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.

Aasaman Nepal is implementing SRHR and Gender equality/women empowerment including ending child marriage and harmful practices Programs in Madhesh Province in the partnership with UNFPA.

The overarching objectives of the programs are to enhance reproductive health outcomes, eliminate gender-based violence, empower women economically and socially, and reduce child marriage. The integrated approach aims to provide comprehensive reproductive health services, promote gender equity, facilitate women’s economic empowerment through skill development and entrepreneurship, and contribute to the global effort of ending child marriage. The program collectively strive to create a society where individuals, particularly women and adolescents, have the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to make informed decisions about their health, well-being, and future. Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position:

GBV Program Officer – Nos: One (Female Only)

Location: Birgunj, Parsa

Position Type: Full-time

Overview:

Empowered Women Prosperous Nepal (EWPN) – program with joint collaboration with GoN, EU and UN in order to Promote gender equality, women empowerment and inclusive growth.it is working on reduce Gender Based Violence and empower the women and adolescents through the enhance the knowledge and support to GBV survivors and provide the shelter support

Working under the direct supervision of GBV Coordinator, GBV officer will be responsible for mainstreaming GBV in plan of the local government and implementation of the project activities at municipal level. The GBV officer is also be responsible to strengthen the coordination with local level with municipality and other stakeholders and collaborate with them to build the synergy with them for GBV activities.

The employee shall fully comply with Aasaman Nepal policies and procedures and should be accountable for it.

Responsibilities:

R1: Program planning and implementation.

  • Support to prepare periodic plan of EWPN and implement those activities at municipal level
  • Work closely with municipal team of Government and organize meetings and workshops in coordination with EWPN program Coordinator for localization of national GBV policies and plan with integration of GESI
  • Participate in planning process of local government and support Women / adolescent to bring the agendas of Women in the planning process
  • Work closely with social development section and other relevant section of local government and make sure that project activities are reflected in the annual plan of municipality
  • Support the local government for mainstreaming and implementation of GBV related activity with quality standard at local level.
  • Participate in municipal level annual reviews meetings and provide necessary technical inputs for better planning and implementation of GBV related issues.

R2: Coordination, liaison and technical assistance

  • Works closely with municipality, public and private authorities, Women group, GBV network to build the synergy in program
  • Work closely with the EWPN Coordinator, and other program and MEAL officers for implementation of the program activities.
  • Support the local government for mainstreaming of the GESI and GBV related activities in coordination with EWPN Coordinator. 
  • Provide technical assistance to local government on planning, implementation and monitoring of GBV activities based on the evidence and align with project activities as per the priority of local government
  • Support to functionalize the local coordination mechanism at local level

R3: Training, capacity building and advocacy

  • Support to organize capacity building training and orientation to CBOs, peer facilitators at local level.
  • Support functionalizes and monitor the safehouse.
  • Support to peer facilitators and community facilitators to conduct Rupaantaran session and parent session. Community and family dialogue
  • Engage with youth council and GBV networks of the municipality for GBV related activities and policy dialogue at local level

R4: Documentation, dissemination, and reporting

  • Support for the data collection and reporting
  • Document best practice, lesson learned and collection of cases studies and share with project team at district
  • Prepare monthly and periodic progress reports about the project and share with MEAL, and Program Manager.
  • Support the assessments, data collection from Municipality, Community.

Qualification:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Studies, or Social Science, with a background in Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE), GBV prevention, and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI).
  • Demonstrate extensive experience (minimum 3 years) in GBV prevention, local-level coordination and collaboration, advocacy, and participating in local-level planning processes.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of Nepal government GBV plans and policies, or experience in humanitarian settings.
  • Have knowledge of gender equity and women’s empowerment, gender transformative approaches, GBV prevention, and sustainability principles. Additionally, possess exceptional communication, coordination, and organizational skills. Familiarity with the socio-cultural landscape of Madhesh Province, Nepal, is advantageous.
  • Show a strong commitment to preventing GBV, sexual exploitation, and abuse. Possess knowledge and experience in reporting and facilitation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer software such as MS Excel, Word, or Office packages.

Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English, Maithili, Bhojpuri (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.
