Promoting citizens empowerment and inclusive democracy in 2 Municipalities of Rautahat and Saptari aims to support and work with local government to institutionalize the local governance process, involve particularly marginalised and poor citizens in local planning and decision-making processes, improve state services and tackle existing problems in communities together. The project pursues participatory methods as a core approach to ensure the participation of women and excluded and poor citizens in planning and decision-making processes. Community- based organisations and citizens are enabled to participate actively in local planning and decision- making processes in the long term. The project is working with women, Dalits, Muslims and other disadvantaged groups in the community and connects them with government services. Thus, through this project, Aasaman Nepal in partnership of Welthhungerhilfe has come together with the aim for strengthening citizen empowerment through institutionalization of participatory and inclusive development in two municipalities in Rautahat and Saptari districts.
