Vocational and Entrepreneurship development skills training to the most vulnerable out of school adolescent girls and young women from conflict affect and vulnerable families”

Aasaman Nepal (ASN) partnered with UN Women to deliver vocational and entrepreneurship development skills training to the most vulnerable out-of-school adolescent girls and young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families such as returnee women migrant workers, survivors of gender-based violence including trafficking in persons, women and girls living with HIV/AIDS, home-based workers, and rural women in Rautahat and Sarlahi districts. There are three different modules of training (3 months, 1 month and 16 days) to be delivered to 1500 participants by 2019.

The implementation of this vocational and entrepreneurship development skills training to the most vulnerable out-of-school adolescent girls and young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families includes an inclusive approach to aware the training participants on some other important aspects which are crucial for life such as communication, interpersonal, leadership, influencing, creativity, professionalism together known as soft skills. The training package also incorporates psycho-social support and sensitization on gender equality to be delivered as an integral part of the training by the psycho-social counselor and GESI expert.

Objectives:

The overall objective of this intervention is to enhance vocational and entrepreneurial skills of out-of-school adolescent girls and young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families to support their full participation in and contribution to economic activities, which will help them for improved and sustainable livelihoods.

The specific objectives are as follows:

  • To conduct an in-depth assessment on specific needs of 1,500 out-of-school adolescent girls and young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families for their vocational skills and entrepreneurship training in Rautahat and Sarlahi districts.
  • To provide training on vocational and entrepreneurial skills up to three months, integrating psychosocial skills and knowledge building on gender equality, to 1,500 out-of-school adolescent girls and young women in Rautahat and Sarlahi districts by 2019.
  • To facilitate Skill Test with the National Skill Testing Board (NSTB) with a minimum of 100 training graduates from conflict-affected families of vocational and entrepreneurial skills

Target Area: Rautahat and Sarlahi districts.

Project Time:  2017 – 2019

Beneficiaries:

Out of school adolescent girls, young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families aged in between 15 to 24 years.

Modules of Vocational Training with beneficiaries:

Three months training: 50 participants from out of school adolescent girls, young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families category aged in between 15 to 24 years.

One month training: 150 participants from out of school adolescent girls, young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families category aged in between 15 to 24 years.

16 Days Training: 1300 participants from out of school adolescent girls, young women from conflict-affected and vulnerable families category aged in between 15 to 24 years.
