1. Climate Change Adaptation

These days government of Nepal along with donor agencies and bilateral organizations are focusing on climate change adaptation and as cross-cutting issues. So, from this year ASN has also started to work on climate change adaptation jointly with VSO. In total 6 staffs (social mobilizers, field supervisor and research monitoring and advocacy officer) participated in South Asia Climate Change project district-level survey orientation workshop on 18-19 July-2013 at Nepalganj Banke conducted by VSO Nepal.  The main aim of the workshop was to orient and capacitate social mobilizer to collect information and on the basis of findings survey develop a joint proposal to fundraise on climate change.

Finally, social mobilizers and supervisors trained on tools of climate change survey. Social mobilizers collected information based on tools from Bhajani and Chuwa VDCs of Kailali. Supervisors collected information from district line agencies. The district as well as VDCs stakeholders sensitized on climate change and adaptation during the survey by mobilizers and supervisors. A strong coordination with district line agencies builds up. Finally, ASN has submitted its expression of interest to DDC Kailali to implement local adaptation plan of action (LAPA) in the marginalized and back warded community of Bhajani, Lalbhoji, Narayanpur and DHansinghpur VDCs and Tikapur municipality.

2. Resource Mobilization of Corporate Sector

 NCELL has been supporting school building construction program with the objective of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and bringing positive change in the lives of children through education. To equip schools with minimum enabling conditions providing students with child friendly learning environment and to encourage teachers and community people to ensure quality of education to children and increase access of out of school children into school, this year NCELL has supported Aasaman Nepal with NRs 5,090,000/- for the construction of 2 rooms’ school building including sitting materials, teaching and learning materials, library corner, toilet construction and fence in 4 schools i.e. Bal Madhyamik Vidhyalaya in Morang, Balkalyan Secondary School in Jhapa, Thakurdevi Higher Secondary School in Dhankuta and Deurali Secondary School in Dhading districts.

Similarly, NCELL has also continued scholarship support to Miss Rinku Kumari Mandal a daughter of Tej Narayan Mandal living in isolated clusters Padaul VDC-7 of Mahottari district for her higher education.
